Laura is a fully qualified music therapist, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and a member of the British Association for Music Therapy. She gained her MSc Music Therapy at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, graduating with distinction in 2016.
From 2017-2019 Laura worked for the music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins Scotland, providing a music therapy service in a wide range of settings across Dundee, Angus, Fife, Lanarkshire, Glasgow and the West.
In 2019, Laura set up her independent music therapy service, Laura Corrigan Music Therapy, offering music therapy to both individual clients and community organisations within Glasgow and the West of Scotland.
Laura has experience of working as a music therapist in a variety of settings, including: with children and young people with additional support needs in more than ten different schools and nurseries; children and adults with profound and multiple learning disabilities in respite care; adults in psychiatric hospital; children with life-limiting illnesses and their families in palliative care settings; referred and self-referring individuals of all ages within a music therapy centre. She has also worked on a range of short- and long-term music projects within the community.
Laura has a particular interest in working with children and adults with autism.
Laura plays the piano, oboe and guitar, and is involved in a number of different music ensembles and projects. She previously served a four-year term as Language Consultant for the online music therapy journal Approaches: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Music Therapy.
